Getting Started With PDF Printer

So how do you start using the PDF Printer, I am sure you must be wondering about this. Am I not right? In this section, you will learn how you can start using this software to create PDF files.


Common PDF printing Process -

1. First of all, open the .doc file that you wish to convert.


2. Once you have done this, click on ‘File’ and then ‘Print’.


3. A window will pop up and at the top of the window; you will see the name of the printers that are installed in your computer. Choose PDF Printer and click on ‘OK’.

 

4. A new window will pop up and you need to enter the details about the file there such as document title, creation date, modify date, author, subject and keywords. 

 

5. You can also save in PDF, PNG, JPEG, BMP, PCX, TIFF, PS, and EPS format.

 

6. Click on save and then save the file in the location of your choice.

 

7. The software will then start converting the file into PDF in no time.

 

MS Word - If you want to convert all the .doc files, then check on the ‘All’ option. This will convert all the pages into a PDF file. On the other hand, if you wish to convert only few pages then you should check on the ‘pages’ option and type the page numbers that you wish to convert. 

 

MS Excel - If you have an xls file with several sheets then check on the ‘entire workbook’ option. This will convert the entire workbook into a PDF file. 

 

MS PowerPoint - If you want to convert all the PowerPoint slides, then check on the ‘All’ option. This will convert all the slides into a PDF file. On the other hand, if you wish to convert only few pages then you should check on the ‘slides’ option and type the page numbers that you wish to convert. Lastly, if you only wish to convert the current slide, then choose the ‘current slide’ option. 

 

MS Access - When it comes to Access files, you will have to choose whether you wish to convert all the pages or few pages. For this purpose, you will need to choose the page numbers. 

 


Security  and  Encryption 

 

You can protect the PDF files that you create by opting for Security and Encryption. When you open the PDF Print Monitor, you will find ‘Printer’ on the top left. Click on it and then select ‘Options’. Click on ‘formats’ and then ‘Security’. Now Check ‘Use Security’, which will enable or disable the security settings.

 

There are two kinds of Encryption Systems for security. One is built into Ghostscript 8.14 and greater and the other one is PDF Printer's pdfenc system. They offer advanced security.

 

With Encryption level, you can prevent the unauthorized copying of information in the PDF file. PDF Printer can encrypt in two levels: Low (40 bit) and High (128 bit).

 


Passwords -  When it comes to Security, you will find that you can choose a password to view the file (user’s password) and another password to make changes to the PDF (owner’s password). When checked, PDF Printer will ask for the passwords from the user and/or owner at the time of creating the PDF.

 

Disallow User -  In this option, the owner can set what the users of the document can do with it. You can disallow the user to make/ change comments, modify the document, copy text and images and prohibit the user to print the document.  

 

Enhanced Permissions - These are for 128 bit high security only. You can permit the users to print in low resolutions, make changes to the assembly, screen readers and fill forms.

 

 

Trial Version and limitation
